Here's a shout out to the all the people who helped make "Maxine" possible. The production itself was a 4 person team: I was doing the video while JT was recording sound. Oliver and Mara of course acted the parts of "Maxine" and "Paul." I want to thank George Kerrigan for the publicity photos of me, Yaron Urbas whose Dedicated Actors Group, not only did I workshop the script in, I also cast in as well, Mara sat right next to me as we were reading it. Tapan Katwala for helping me move around gear, Isabel Rhys-Jones for the valuable feedback while I was editing it and Zack Hample who let me workshop the script in his Writing Group. A big thank you for Jon who was there from day 1 when I pitched the idea to him at a bar in Bar Harbor, Maine in October 2012. Thanks for letting me shoot in your old Jersey City apartment, for recording sound, for being the production assistant and for composing original music.

Mara Lee Gilbert
Mara grew up in Nutley, New Jersey born to an actress mother and a musician father. They taught her that no matter what endeavors she pursues, creative or otherwise, she must bring all of herself and be joyous in her work!
After pursuing and obtaining a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology, Mara realized her true joy was performing. She worked with professors to conduct theater workshops inside Bayview Correctional Facility and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center (both in New York City), further solidifying this realization. Since then she has pursued this joy full force!
Mara is also a published playwright. Her piece, Steel or Pretzels, premiered in NYC with the Strawberry One-Act Winter Festival 2009 and was chosen for publication in the festival's Best Plays from the Strawberry One-Act Festival anthology. She continues to write for stage and screen.

Always strive to be honest and true, cool under pressure, resourceful and tough with an appropriately proportioned soft spot. Colorful, serious when necessary, funny when called for, sentimental sometimes, shit-kickingly competitive all the time and profoundly plain and simple by nature. Always ready to ride in and save the day. Passionate and opinionated yet collaborative and without conceit. Curious. Prompt. Courteous. Prepared. Willing to trust guts and fly by a pant’s seat. Driven by ideas, belief in principles, good food and well-aged single malt scotch.
