Picture
"A fistfight, ugly cries, a coming out story, love, betrayal, secrets revealed. What else could happen at a public marriage proposal?"

My next project is called "Asian PersuAsian." It's going to be 15 minutes, a comedy (I don't like labeling it as a comedy, what if people don't find it funny?). It'll have an all Asian cast and the best way to describe it is: it's a public marriage proposal gone awry.  I plan on shooting this in Upper Manhattan, either Fort Tryon Park or Inwood Hill Park.

INSPIRATION
Witnessing two back to back over-the-top marriage proposals at Bethesda Fountain at Central Park.

NEXT STEPS
  • Fundraising:
"Asian Persuasian" is made possible through the Inwood Film Festival Filmmaker Fund created and administered by Inwood Art Works, Aaron Simms, Founder and Executive Producer.

An additional fund raising campaign will launch in October 2020. Money will go to actors for the shoot and rehearsals, a professional sound person and meals for cast and crew.

  • Casting:
This is an ensemble piece.  Chemistry is key! The characters are to play friends who have met in childhood and have lifetimes of memories and inside jokes.

PROGRESS - BLOG

19 September 2020 - The biggest hurdle I'm facing now is trying to figure out the best, the safest way of shooting this project during a pandemic. I'm doing alot of research online. The SAG-AFTRA site has been very helpful. I'm also reaching out to fellow filmmakers who have projects lined up.  I have until August 2021 to complete this project so I have SOME time. In the meantime, I'm reaching out to actors who might be interested in auditioning for this (paying gig), I'm looking at locations, and talking to camera and sound people. I'm keeping an eye out for film festival deadlines and trying to come up with a marketing strategy (Am I sticking with the title "Asian PersuAsian"? I need a good tagline and poster). The work continues....
